BUILD HOMES ALONGSIDE FAMILIES, EXPLORE GUATEMALA & FORM MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS.

We have partnered with TECHO to build homes alongside local volunteers and the families receiving the homes. We will spend two days assembling homes, sharing meals and conclude with a key giving ceremony, welcoming the family into their new homes.

 
 
 

EXPECTATIONS  &  EXPERIENCE

E X P E C T A T I O N S 

Once your Journey is booked, you are with us from start to finish. That means, all transportation, meals, lodging, impact materials, excursions, workshops, and other daily activities are included. We know you are wondering about transportation, what to pack, what the accommodations will be like, etc. which you can see more here. Just remember, flights are not included! 

I M P A C T

Journey’s implementing partner TECHO works in 19 Latin American countries building transitionary homes and empowering communities to become self-sufficient. Families are selected through an application process, and put forth a portion of the cost of the home. We work alongside these families for 2 days and conclude with a ribbon cutting ceremony presenting the finished home.

Building homes for families alongside local volunteers. Night camping.

THE LODGING


 

A N T I G U A

We begin our trip in Antigua at a boutique hostel in the heart of the city. We have reserved the entire hostel and will be using it as our home base for group meals, workshops following impact work, community healing and more. The hostel is located in the heart of the city, only five blocks from the central plaza.

L A K E   A T I T L A N

We will arrive on the south shore of Lake Atitlan where our time is spent enjoying the spectacular outdoor surroundings and experiencing the Mayan culture and ritual. Choose from activities that fill your day, including hiking, swimming, meditation, and more. 

We will visit the community of San Juan La Laguna, where we will meet local collectives of entrepreneurs and try freshly-ground Guatemalan coffee and experience culinary delicacies.
