Glasswing International will lead the two-day school renovation project, where we will revitalize a local kindergarten or elementary school in an underserved neighborhood from start to finish.
Glasswing's philosophy is to improve on existing infrastructures in schools, hospitals and community centers, rather than building new ones. Their concept is simple: foster change by investing in a community’s existing strengths and resources – its infrastructure and its people.
We will work alongside local community members and students to paint the walls, garden, provide new learning materials, paint murals and help with basic renovations that will transform the school into a better learning environment for the students to learn and grow.
TECHO is a 20-year old nonprofit that has built over 100,000 housing units by mobilizing over 800,000 local volunteers. The homes we build are transitionary, meaning they are meant to last 5-10 year, when Techo will return and build permanent structures.
The families who receive the homes are selected through an application process, in which they pay for and put forth a portion of the cost of the home. We build alongside local Techo Volunteers and the families receiving the homes over the course of two days.
TECHO works in 19 Latin American countries and ensures the sustainability of the new homes and the well-being of the community.

I’m leading a purpose-driven travel adventure, in Mexico City on May 18 - 24, 2017 and I want you to come.
Here's how it looks…
You fly out on Friday morning, eat some terrible airplane pretzels, and land that evening where you are met at the airport and taken to our hotel. Our whole crew (30 of us from NY, LA, SF, Vancouver, and Toronto) head to dinner at a cool Nicaraguan restaurant up the street, eat some tacos, and meet each other.
On Saturday morning we head to the build site, you meet the children you will be rebuilding a school for for and your fellow Journeyers. You and your team paint, build and restore all day, share lunch with the family, and we all head into Mexico City that night and have a big dinner together.
Sunday we depart for Tepotzlan! Then it’s all about charkra therapy tubs, yoga classes with epic teachers, meditating on the sacred grounds of Hostal de la Luz, and enjoying a sacred Mayan sweat lodge.
You are back in LA by Wednesday night feeling open, reset, and knowing that you just did something huge for a wonderful family. It’s all with an amazing impact travel community called Journey, and here is a video from a recent trip.
There are 4 spots left on this trip - let me know if I should hold one for you.
HERE IS THE LINK, and it’s only $$ if you book before DATE with the code WEJOURNEY.
Let’s do this.
